An international agreement will link Siberian and Japanese oncologists
Cooperation between Irkutsk and Japanese doctors, that is lasting for fifteen years, is reaching a new level. Today, an agreement between the Regional Cancer Center and the National Cancer Center Hospital of Tokyo (recognized by many experts as the best medical institution in our hemisphere) is prepared. A consent on this was reached in November, during a visit to Japan by a delegation of health professionals from the Angara region, headed by Minister of Health of the Irkutsk Region Oleg Yaroshenko.
During this trip, Irkutsk doctors, including the head physician of the Regional Cancer Center Victoria Dvornichenko, also visited St. Luke's Hospital (at the top of the list of the best multi-profile hospitals in Japan, has one of the greatest experience in diagnosing, treating and monitoring foreign patients), the Center for Neural and Proton Therapy, Osaka Medical University (leader of nuclear medicine in Japan), the Juntendo University and the Juntendo Hospital (one of the oldest medical and scientific centers in Japan) and other medical institutions.
At the moment, the Parties have already exchanged their annual plans for joint activities prepared by them, which include: organization of joint training events, internships for doctors, research work, and consultations.
The creation of the Japanese Training Center in Irkutsk is also in line. There Siberian doctors will be able to learn from the experience of the Land of the Rising Sun in terms of endoscopy and ultrasound diagnostics. Japanese specialists are recognized world leaders in these medical disciplines, and for many years Irkutsk doctors have been learning from leading experts of the National Cancer Center Hospital and other medical clinics of Japan. The experience of Japan in organizing early cancer diagnosis is very important. Due to this, stomach and intestinal cancer are detected in the early stages (I and II) in 95% of cases.
We remind that on the basis of the State Budgetary Health Institution Regional Cancer Center, master classes under the general name Japanese Oncology School are held for several years. The event became especially large-scale this year: 16 world-class Japanese experts arrived in Irkutsk to read presentations and lectures on various topics from statistics to the latest cases from their medical practices, conduct master-classes and pass on their experience to Russian doctors.
